This is another polish I got from the Orly on Hautelook sale.
I've been having trouble with my pictures at my new house. They keep coming out too yellow or orange toned. So I had to tweek these with my software to get the polish color accurate. Somehow my fingers still look off. :( So I need to improve my lighting set up. Any suggestions? I'm debating between getting full spectrum light bulbs for my medusa lamp, or investing in an OTT lamp. Do any of y'all have personal experience with either? What do you think?
Here is 3 coats of Orly Au Champagne
The formula was kind of a pain. :( The polish was thick and didn't want to go on smoothly. I found it worked best once I added some nail polish thinner and waited a good 5 minutes between coats. It dries to a satin finish on it's own. So I did use topcoat in these photos.
I love how a white polish looks very clean and crisp, and the shimmer in this makes it really special. If you can put up with the finnicky bits, this polish is a must!
This is my favourite white polish as the formula on mine is great and on my short nails it's opaque and streak free in 2 coats. And it's so pretty!

I haven't use any Orly polish, but I think I wouldn't mind to star with this, it's really nice. Kisses
ReplyDeleteLooks very cute on you)
ReplyDeleteI love this color, shame it was a pain!
ReplyDeleteI agree this is a must shade for polish collectors. I love, love it. I did not expect it to be any different than other shimmer whites - but it's so different. It's more of a cream or winter white. It's not a stark white at all. It works really well as a base shade for doing nail art. My bottle is not as finicky to use as you describe - maybe you need to add a couple drops of polish thinner to yours. Mine is not thin at all by any means - but it's not finicky to apply and dry time is normal.
ReplyDeleteI got some polishes from that Hautelook sale and had the same issue with the formula--plus, the mini set I bought leaked EVERYWHERE in the plastic shipping wrapper.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to taking my photos I use a homemade light box with a desk lamp on top of it. I also stick a black piece of paper in the background, its what I prefer but its super easy to change the background!
ReplyDeletebeautiful color!
ReplyDeleteSuch a classy look and Gorgeous...sorry it was such a pain...I thought about buying it, but didn't because I was worried about sheerness...
ReplyDeleteOh, and I got an "on-sale" Ott light for jewelry-making and I use this for my pics...I do like it!
ReplyDeleteI like this a lot!
ReplyDeleteLove the polish!
ReplyDeleteI think I found some full spectrum bulbs that out perform ott : http://www.fullspectrumsolutions.com/compare_ottlite_113_ctg.htm
