Reviewing another product from the Born Pretty Store. This time it's the Striping Tape you can find here in a pack of 12 different colors for $6.29. I've recently seen a lot of new nail art looks that are featuring striping tape, so I was excited to try it myself.
I wanted to recreate this look in particular. Her's was much neater and better photographed, but this isn't a contest, right? Enjoy.
I used the gold striping tape from Born Pretty. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud, China Glaze For Audrey, and Essie Navigate Her.
As far as a review goes.... The tape was very easy to use. Same concept as using Scotch Tape on your nails, but without the pain of having to cut it into tiny strips. I just cut off a small section big enough that it would over lap the edge of my nail. Then I came in close with a pair of cuticle nippers to cut it exactly to the edge. The tape adheres well and lies flat under top coat. I didn't have any trouble until day 2 of my manicure when the topcoat had worn off some and the edges of the tape were exposed and started getting caught on everything.
I also got some Bullion Beads from Born Pretty, that's coming up next!

ReplyDeleteI love it! The polishes you used are gorgeous. Compliment each other perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI have a question about the tape.. Did you find it difficult after putting it on and using a top coat, that it would flair up at the tips and not stay? If not, what did you do!? :D Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSoo pretty, love it. The colours you've used are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the tape and that color combo is beautiful!

ReplyDeleteThis turned out really nice!
ReplyDeletethose tape designs look stunning!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I've always found these want to curl up at the ends which ruins a beautiful manicure. I wonder if a touch of super glue at the ends would make it last a few days longer?
ReplyDeleteAmazing job! I couldn't ever think in nails like that. Great job!! Kisses
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty!!!! Love your color choices!
ReplyDeleteLoved it!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how did you divide the colors? Did you use scotch tape color by color or how else did you do it?
I had tried a nautical style last week with the scotch tape, not easy to cut them all the same width but in the end it was ok. I was looking for these striping tapes but they don't have it here in Belgium yet... shame!
About the edges of the tape, I only had problem with them after the 4th day... it must have something to do with the top coat I use (a brazilian one). My manicure normally lasts 7 days, and they only start peeling off around the 6th day.
I just freehanded the color sections with the brush from the polish bottle itself. The lines didn't have to be exact because the striping tape covered minor flaws. :) Thanks for the tip about topcoat, I'll have to experiment with a different one next time around!
Deletei love this!!! how did you section the colors?
