I don't understand the pun name? Ohm? Even wikipedia wasn't able to help me. Leave a comment if it makes sense to you...
It's a creamy warm plum shade. I really like it. It's just the right balance of pinky-purple.
This swatch is 2 easy breezy coats.

ReplyDeleteAn Ohm is a unit of electrical measurement... so still not sure of the pun (Ohm is pronounced similar to home, so definitely a spin on 'Welcome Home')... but I guess they're running out of things to name polishes ;)

ReplyDeleteYes it's a chant I think in Buddhism. And the other polishes in that collection are in that theme if I'm not mistaken.

ReplyDeleteOhm in this context is related to chanting in meditation - typically Eastern meditation - Buddhist and some of the Indian meditation techniques. Ohm is a channeling for self to center self (as in bring one home to your center as others above have mentioned). Then once you have reached your calm center, you merge into your own mantra that is given to you (or you take one if self taught) for beginning this style of Eastern meditation. It was very popular in the western cultures in the late 60's and on into the 70's. Kind of came out of the Beatles going to study in India and then also the Hara Krishna movement that bloomed here in the states about the same time. Sometimes it's good to be older I think at times like this -having lived through all those times and been very influenced by it all. I still meditate after taking some years of hiatus from it. I keep looking at my email from Haute - but have not seen Barielle offered again. Keep thinking it will be there with all the polishes they dumped when they added the 90 new shades. Fisk - the new company that bought Barielle about 2 yrs ago now is starting to really revamp the color line and make a mark for their company name in the market.

ReplyDeleteOr it could be a play on the German way to say Welcome, which is willkommen. If written out phonetically Welcome Ohm would fit.
