Stash Swatch Sticks

You might have noticed that I've started including swatches on a false nail stick in some of my posts. I recently heard about these Swatch sticks and I love the idea of having everything so organized. Plus if anyone comes over for a mani, they can fan through those to find what they like. And that frees me up to reorganize my stash by brand vs by color or whatever! So I ordered 8 sets of 50 nail sticks from this eBay listing. Then I accidentally ordered an additional 8 sets because I thought my first order didn't go through. :( I'm a goober like that sometimes. Lol. So I have more than enough to swatch my entire collection! It will be nice to use them and try different combinations of polishes, so I will still use them.

You can write with a Sharpie permanent marker on the stick part and to brand and color name. :)

So far I have them grouped by color family. This is my glitter/magnetic/crackle ground. I layered the flakies over black and white to see how the colors pop.

So that's my whole stash!
I have a group for:
Glitter/Crackle/Magnetic
Blue
Brown/Black/White
Purple
Pink/Coral/Orange/Red
Teal/Green/Yellow
Now if I can ever find someone willing to custom make me a polish rack/bookcase to my specifications.... I plan on organizing my stash by brand!

  1. How fast did you get them? I Need to order more, but the person I ordered my first sets from went WAY up on the prices and took forever for them to get to me.

    1. They shipped from Hong Kong and it only took a week? Maybe a week and a half? I don't remember exactly.

  2. OOOOO, this is great, I'm gonna go get that now cause it'll be great for my movie/nail nights with my friends so they don't have to pick up each individual nail polish, hold up to the light etc...great idea, thanks!

  7. oooh, they all look soo pretty, i'm going to get some too, thankyou for including a link because I could never find them for less than about $15 ! (i may have been searching for the wrong thing ; ) but I'm definatley going to get some now, and since I recently organised my stash by brand it's slightly harder trying to find the shade that I want but this should make it a lot easier now ! thankyou : )

  8. What a great way to look at the polishes easily. I might have to borrow that idea. :)

  9. These are great. I am looking for something to swatch my stash that is just a tish over 1000 bottles not including dupes. The wheels from Sally's are cumbersome and don't have space for the name of the polish - only a # and then have to have another datasheet that tells what that # represents. These you got look great as there is enough to write the name and a box # to show where it's located...then you can move things around easier too than if on a wheel as you only have the one stick you need to move and re-mark. Thanks for the link - going to see how much it would be to get at least 500 to get started on my stash swatching. I JUST finished finally my database for the main part - now have to do a database less involved for the dupes and separate out the dupes I want to keep vs. those I want to sell - but ugh - hate to think of selling on eBay. I hear so many horrible stores of bad buyers! But I have a lot of OPI black label dupes. Maybe I need to get my own blog just so I can use it to sell my dupes and capture a better market of buyers than eBay seems to often have. Anyone dealing on eCrater with input on how that is?

  10. How long did it take to get your shipment to you from China? Any issues with customs or the dealer for these spoons? Really like them.

    1. I had no problem with this seller at all. I received my sticks quickly. They came in about a week? Or maybe a week and a half. I'm don't remember exactly. I think you should start a blog! You are obviously very knowledgeable and it's a lot of fun! A great way to spend some spare time!

  11. What a huge stash you must have! I still prefer the nailwheels. They take less plays then these sticks.

  12. Love it. I read some bloggers who made their own with wooden sticks and glued false nails on and I was considering that until now.... :)

  13. I just ordered a bunch of these. It bothers me that they are clear rather than fingernail-colored. I was planning to paint the backs with a flesh color, and maybe add white tips so I can see how each color behaves with regard to VNL. Am I over-thinking this? Do you feel that the results you get on the clear sticks is close enough to actual fingertip results?

    1. I like that they are clear because I can see how a glitter polish would look over another color by holding the sticks on top of each other. I can see what you're saying though and it might be a good idea to test some for visible nail line. There is another eBay listing of the same type thing but they are white and not clear. Maybe you'd like those better?

  19. I just found this post through google and I noticed you mentioned getting someone to build you a custom nail rack. I built my own a few months ago and it was incredibly affordable and easy! All I did was go to home depot and buy two 2x8 wood pieces and asked to have them all cut down to an equal length 24" each. The sides would have to be longer pending how many shelves you want but then I just used a drill to attach them. Super easy. And I used spray paint to paint the rack after it was all together.

  20. Can you please offer me some advice - I've got some of these sticks and coloured them with my Harmony Gelish UV gel polishes. I didn't use the foundation gel - just two layers of colour. After curing (for double the recommended time!) I went to wipe off the sticky layer and the coloured gel came away too. What have I done wrong? Is it because I didn't use foundation gel, or did I need to buff the nails, or do they need a super long cure time?!
    Any help greatfully received!
    Thanks

    1. I have absolutely no experience with gels, so I have nooooo clue! Sorry, but I just don't know what it could be. :/

  21. Hi

You need to make sure you use the Top It Off (colour, cure, colour, Top It Off, wipe with cleanser). The top coat seals the colour after curing.

    Hope that helps.

  22. Do you paint the underside of the stick or on top? I have just started my collection and some of them just look weird underneath but then alot look amazing because they look top coated. Just wondering what you opinion would be?
