I wanted to do this "accent tag" that I saw YouTube. I know it has nothing to do with nail polish, but y'all have all had a good laugh at my other videos and commented on my accent. So I did this just for you! And of course it was all going good until the last bit when you get a glimpse at how craptastic my day was going. You'll be hapy to know that yes, things were better once I finally got to sleep. :)
Here is the list of words & questions if you choose to do this same tag:
garage, herb, schedule, figure, jaguar, lieutenant, water, advertisement, vase, route, ballet, tomato, leisure, address, ate, buoy, aluminum, aunt, wash, oil, theatre, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pyjamas, caught.
Questions are:
What's it called to throw paper on a house?
What's the bug called that when you touch it, it rolls into a ball?
What do you call a bubbly carbonated drink?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say when you address a group?
What is the spider with an oval shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What is the wheeled contraption that you carry groceries in at the supermarket?
What is it called when it is raining while the sun is shining?
What is the thing called that changes the TV channel?

If you do this too please comment below with a link! I'd love to laugh at how you say things funny!
Lol you are so cute!!! We call it coke too (tennessee)... that made me laugh when you said "regular coke". I have to explain that to people all the time!!
ReplyDeleteHa! I don't have an interesting accent so the words wouldn't be too funny, and I say most things that you do! I say TP, I've never heard "rolling" around here. Soft drinks are usually soda, and though most people around here say "y'all" I just can't do it. I say "you guys." A shopping cart is a shopping cart. Lol. Never have I heard anyone around here say buggy or trolly! I didn't know there was a word for raining while the sun is shining. That's weird.
ReplyDeleteI cracked up when I listened to this. I'm a southern girl who moved to New York so they love picking at my accent too, especially "y'all". Now they say it too!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Ohio but live in Oklahoma, and I too say most of the same things you do. TP-ing. Pop. Used to say buggy, now it's a shopping cart. Raining while the sun is shining. And here's another one...paper bag or paper sack? Bag. And yes, I do say y'all at times.
ReplyDeleteHe he! I am from Arizona and I now live in Connecticut. It was so strange to move here and hear how people say things! A couple examples are we call the device that turns the TV on the "clicker" and also we call corn, soft taco shells tortillas while they say wraps. Odd. lol cool tag! <3
ReplyDeleteFunny! I'm originally from Washington State, and our word for when it rains when the sun is shining is "Tuesday." :)
ReplyDeleteLoved this!! I'm such a geek for things like regional accents and syntax!! XD Loved it!! I'm from southwestern BC (Canada) and I was pretty surprised how many similarities there were :) I find people here call gym shoes "runners" usually which isn't really any more accurate than tennis shoes lol.
ReplyDeleteVery entertaining! I've just found your blog and will enjoy looking around. I'm from New Zealand so we say things a bit differently here too =) Aluminum is pretty different here. Bubbly carbonated drinks are soft drinks, shopping carts are definitely shopping carts or trolleys, no one here says y'all, it's more of a gidday mate lol, and we definitely have sunshowers!

ReplyDeletelove this vidio
ReplyDeleteyou are cute!!
love youuuuuuuuu!!
ReplyDeletemy favorite was the way you said "again"
I loved when you said Jaguar! Lol! and fire! I live in FL and we have sun showers all the time, I think that's where the term originated because sometimes it just randomly rains whether it's cloudy or perfect out. I've heard people say liquid sunshine too, I don't care for that term though.
ReplyDeleteLOL I'm from south Georgia & we say things exactly the same!!
ReplyDeleteI also have never heard of "sun showers". We always used to say that when the sun is shining & it's raining that the devil was beating his wife. Why I have no idea. I think it's one of those old timey saying. I have A LOT of those.
How come nobody called me on my flub? The Sonic drink is called a Route 44! Not a Route 66, like I said in the video! Lol *facepalm*
ReplyDeleteLike the way you said fire ;DD
ReplyDeleteI love how you say things! We couldn't pronounce things any more differently if we tried :]

ReplyDeleteI love your accent! It's super cute! There were things I was arguing with your video about. I got some strange looks from my daughter while yelling at my iPad. :) different strokes for different folks I suppose
