In the French Army

French manicure and an army green, get it? No? That figures....
This look kind of reminds me of those old fashioned shoes with the fold over flap and the buttons.... Were they worn with tuxedos or something snazzy? There is a glimmer of a memory there. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please help me out with the name of it.

I started with China Glaze Sea Spray, 2 coats.

Freehand french tips with Essie Sew Psyched and a striper brush.

Add three dots of Essie Sand Tropez using my largest dotting tool.

A generous coat of topcoat makes everything even and perfect!

These are nice dusty fall colors but sadly the weather here is still crazy heat of summer. Maybe me using more fall colors will make it come faster? Here is to wishful thinking!

I really like that it's not too over-the-top and flashy. :) Enjoy!

  2. Pretty! Maybe that's why I've been wanting dark polish lately, because it's so darn HOT! I love these colors together, they look like they were made for this mani!

  3. If wearing more fall appropriate colors brings the cool weather than I'M IN!! I would GLADLY welcome some cool weather right now. I'm rather sick of the heat by this point. Lovely manicure and I adore the name.. I got it, I got it!

  4. The blue is okay, kinda too boring for me - but the green makes it pop. Then with the creamy dots, it brings it all together as like, an old fashioned look.

  6. For being a muted colour mani it is a very nice unexpected colour combination. You mentioned that you free handed the french tips using a striper brush with Essie's Sew Psyched - your lines are flawless. Somewhat jealous, to be honest. ;)

  7. Looks great - I have all these shades - have to try it. Are you possibly thinking of Spatz - the shoe thing you were referring to? I am pretty sure that is what you are thinking of. Google Spatz and select the drop down option for Spatz shoes and you will get photos. Good take doing this without an actual photo but just a visual in your mind!

  10. I figured Spatz was what you were referring to. I could not get my history mind wrapped around any other kind of shoe that reminded me of your description and your creation. Glad I could help! I have a brain trap of trivia...esp for things history related.
