This is another polish from my Barielle order. I'm really pleased with this brand so far!
Rebecca made a good point when I made my Essie Haul video and pronounced it "Barry - elle." She says she reads it in a french way pronounced "Ba-ray." This got me thinking too as to which is the right way? With my country hick accent, that for some reason that is unknown to me, you guys think is "cute & charming"... I've been known to pronouce many words wrong in my day! So please help me out if this is another one of those occasions. Lol. Just leave it in a comment.
*edit* OMG I can't believe I forgot to tell you guys my biggest blunder with pronunciations!
Illamasqua
to you may be : "ill-a-mask-wa"
I will always read it as "llama-esque"
That was from my first glimpse at that brand name when I initially saw it I thought, "What!? As if having the characteristics of a llama? What were they thinking naming it that?!" And then I saw a video where someone read the name correctly, and I swear a lightbulb went off over my head. Lololol *edit*Here is Barielle Swizzle Stix by itself. 2 coats.
This second picture is actually the most color accurate I could get. It has a muted, dusty quality to it that I really love.
The I added random dots of two sizes with China Glaze Refresh Mint
It was really simple and I feel the colors went great together. I can always judge a success or failure of a manicure by the number of comments I get from people in my daily life.... This one was a hit with many people at work, so success it was!
I love the colour combo - it reminds me of floating soap bubbles. It's funny, I generally judge my mani's the same way! :) I seriously doubt you'd ever have a mani-fail.
ReplyDeleteI've always said Barry-elle too. I like to think I'm right, but then again whenever I see Seche Vite I always think "setch-veet" to myself, so maybe I'm not the most reliable source.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteHAHA i asked this on the polish-aholics facebook group, 2 people answered and they said barry-elle.
ReplyDeletei think i might be the odd one out!
and lol @ laura's comment, my french-ness also makes me laugh when people pronounce seche vite wrong. because that is french, not just a french accent in my mind :P
sesh vite.
i heard someone say "setch-E vite" in a video and lol'd
also, your nails are super cute :)
ReplyDeletey'all are hilarious. but I'm proud that I was at least right on this one! Lol
ReplyDeleteIt looks really pretty :)
ReplyDeleteLOL @ "llama-esque"! i think i like that way better. I always said it "ill-uh-mask-ca" in my head, which is totally wrong but i can't seem to read it any differently. I always think Barielle is "barry-elle" as well. And to comment on your manicure, polka dots always seem to go over really well with muggles i encounter. Handpainted stripes and roses? no comments. slightly crooked quickly stamped polka dots? people grab my hands to see. i don't understand it. haha!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous mani!!
ReplyDeleteYour dots are so neat and cute:D This design is like a fizzy drink;p mmmmm!!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure you're right. My 4 years of French classes and a friend who spent a semester in Paris and speaks much better French than I do say it's "barry-elle" and not "ba-ray." I'll ask the French woman I work with when I can.
ReplyDeleteI am a very country girl, I have been mangling Seche Vite and Barielle right along with you!
ReplyDeleteLove the preppy look of it! :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love polka dot manis
